The Rain came down on a wet Sunday morning wind blowing hard -good football in wet  conditions The question was could the weather be  a help to them did they know something-we didn't  could it  be AFC,s twelve man.We were about to find out. In our hearts and minds we were ready .After a fine display in last weeks cup match it was back to the league for this encounter.Over the last 4 seasons this has ben a fixtuer that we always looked forward to play.

We played 3 up front last week which seems to have worked well for us then and so it seemed the best way to play we do have a lot of good pace through out the attacking players and with this in mind we played Carlo and james G either side of Owen almost like a diamond although we need them to move around more to many straight lines.

The game started with the usual hustle and bustle frantic running  bags of energy burning but no width and it being a small pitch it  did not help us no- room to pass.There did not seem to be any formation everything was going down the left side Harry and Carlo did not touch the ball for the first 5 minutes  as for Will Taylor well he was just getting wet he was just a spectator-AFC although with lots of industry could not keep the ball and just gave it straight back to us. thanks very much-This seemed to encourage us and through the rain and wind we started to get more possesion.We were camped in there half.The forwards were now getting open with some smart short passes and the midfield three were in total control .James had a great chance for a goal and Owen aslo vollyed just wide- the shots were starting pepper the AFC goal Harry-Dominic- and Carlo all going close We needed a goal.

Every dark cloud has a silver lining just when you start to doubt  that it might not happen and we really shouldn't- the football was fantastic -flowing moves 3 or four passes -Fullbacks moving up the pitch to surport.Dominic won the ball in midfield and just outside the area the goal keeper maybe should have caught it but spilled it over the line 1-0 some times that how it goes we deserved the lead and it should have been more.Just like waiting for a Bus really you get one and then another one comes along.Straight from the kick off The ball was only cleared to just over the penalty area Owen got hold and shot with his left foot the goalkeeper helped with  his hand but it was 2-0 the rain had stopped the sun was shinning  but we were now after the next goal-time to change things-Jack Whelan had come on up front and Jake graham  came off for Lewis We have to make changes through the match as we try to give them all game time it disrupts the play for us but its the best way.We were not our usual loud selves which is part of the fun for us any way

We continued to make great inroads down the left and right but the scoreline was a false reflection of the game although AFC had acouple of half chances they really were no threat Will Russell and Ben booker were outstanding at the back with the full backs Ben Spargo and Jake graham in great surport .

The third goal came from some good work by Elliot and james G the ball was sent across the face of the goal with players lined up to score  but it was  Jack W  who put the ball in at the far post .He is on fire at the moment.3-0 it was not a flattering scoreline it really should have been more.We did not have to waite to long as good work again from the midfield to the forwardS Jack again in a good position to recieve the ball but with stilL some work to do he swivelled and shot past the keeper 4-0 and boy were we in the groove now . We did not want half time to come but it did .

Its always hard to make changes and we all feel even with our small squard that we have to do it as much as possible.As good as they all are it always takes out the momentum of the play.We had all the subs on for the second half and as usual we were like snails letting AFC have to much of the ball all though they only had half chances it was a bitter pill to swallow when they scored but we do sometime lose our way after all we are all knew to this would happen  the goal was well taken-and i will leave it at that........

We started to get back in to the game with Jack and Harry   james Gulliford and Brodie Mclellan loads of effort but the goals were not coming.Corners and goal mouth scambles and still it would not go in.We were always in control and were not as blinkered as our opposition they really thought they were in a game that was well out of there reach

Defenders Will R Ben B and Ben S were very solid and gave away very little again it was not always that easy but they give us the foundation we need to win these games

A smart move down the the right wing with Carlo doing well to cross into Elliot  he placed his shot into the goal it was a well worked goal and my favourite of the day. We are getting better at this 5-1 the score now We wanted more - subs on Elliot went in  goal for the last 15 minutes and let a very wet and redundant Will Taylor play on pitch we are lucky that we have so many players that can play in many positions-back to that total football.Owen hit the post and Jack nearly got his hat-trick some many chances -

Jacob had switched to left back from right midfield jake graham had moved to center back Jack cooke played at right back and on it went changing them round.The next goal was also a well worked and Will taylor started and finished -some times we watch them in awe and wonder as they do things well beyond there years Will T passed the ball and went for the return it looked simple but it was great awareness we all purred on the touchline-it had been another great win-6-1

We are not the finished article but we are getting there untill next time..........
