this was our first evening match of the season. Thame were the league leaders and we knew this match would confirm how many wins we would need to win the league. A win would leave us requiring two wins from five matches but a defeat would leave us needing to win four out of five including a very tough match against holmer green. Thame started brightly, bossing the midfield, making our defence work right from the start. They created a couple of good chances but none on target. Elliot and dominic started to win some ball in midfield and james had a lot of space on a very big pitch. he played the ball up to will taylor who had three men to beat. He jinxed his way around two of them with his pace taking him clear on goal. The keeper started to move left and a somewhat scuffed shot from will went in the opposite corner. Thame were still strong in midfield as they only played one up front. They broke down our left with a sharp one two, the winger then hit a superb first time cross which was volleyed home giving ben no chance in goal 1-1 This gave Thame the momentum to attack. although our mid field was working hard Thame seemed to win all the second ball, but some resolute defending led by will russell and a great couple of saves from ben kept the scores level. james again provided an outlet for us, instead of running down a blind alley he struck a lovely square pass to harry, he used his pace to ghost past their defence and cooly passed the ball into the corner of the net.2-1 Prestwood. this gave our midfield more confidence and we started to press forward. Dominic had a great shot saved will went close and elliot and harry began to win every thing in mid field supported by james who was playing well, one of his runs earned a corner which was swung over by harry, thame's defence thought they had cleared it but it fell to will taylor right side of the box with his back to goal he hit an first time half volley which dipped over the keeper.3-1 Thame came again, pushing forward looking to get back into the match which was still in the balance. we had been struggling with throw ons recently but came up with a gem! Jake threw to Harry, who in turn played yhe ball into space in front of Jake who ran on to the ball hitting a cross field ball over the static Thame defence falling at will taylor's feet who slotted it under the keeper.4-1 Half Time We changed it at half time giving a very tired elliot a deserved rest slotting Jack Whelan into midfield with carlo coming on up front with will. Thame again started strong putting us under early pressure earning a few corners . Ben made acouple of great saves and along with some great defending Thame could not find a way through. At the other end carlo and will provided a great outlet combining well creating a few chances between them without really testing the keeper. After another Thame attack we had a bit of a mix up in defence communication wise ending up with Brodie missing the ball but managing to take a chunk out of his captain! With will off the field Dominic went to centre back with carlo dropping into a 5 man midfield. This seemed to work well for us especially when a clearance from Dominic [he would say a perfect pass] fell invitingly at will's feet who must have been tired so rather than run with the ball he lobbed the keeper from 30 yards. fantastic goal. With Ben playing so well in goal his confidence must have gone to his head! as a corner came over he had a rush of blood, getting nowhere near the ball their striker headed the ball goalwards. A combination of Brodie and jacob juggling the ball between them could not keepthe ball out.[according to the linesman] final score 5-2 SPECIAL MENTION-EVERYONE GREAT TEAM EFFORT BEN BOOKER,WILLTAYLOR,WILLRUSSELL,HARRY MEPHAM,BEN SPARGO,CARLO VARIELLE,JON PAGNI,JAKE GRAHAM,BRODIE MCLELLAN,DOMINIC BROWN,ELLIOT WILLS,JACK DEBONO,JAMES GULLIFORD,
